Start-ups and new businesses can sign up for a free workshop with guest speakers, peer networking, and support signposting.

Business Boost: Focus on Start-up Support for Leicester and Leicestershire is being hosted by the LLEP Business Gateway Growth Hub on March 12.

Organisers say the event, which will take place at Leicester Racecourse, will showcase help available for anyone thinking about starting a business – or who has started one during recent years.

It aims to provide advice to begin or enhance the journey into self-employment, and to develop skills, build knowledge, and stack the odds in delegates’ favour.

Guest speakers will cover business planning, finance, social media and wellbeing. There will also be specialist start-up support providers on hand and ready to help attendees.

The event will run from 9.30am to 2pm.

It is open to anyone thinking about starting a business or anyone who has started a business in the last three years in Leicester and Leicestershire.

The fully-funded event includes a buffet lunch. Attendees will:

  • Learn from the lessons of others who have been there and done it
  • Find out the right steps to take when starting up
  • Build or enhance business skills on key topics
  • Connect with support providers
  • Share experiences with other local startups.

It is the latest in a series of Growth Hub events, the most recent of which saw growth specialist Maria Peggs pose a series of questions to more than 70 attendees.

Delegates then took part in roundtable discussions about current opportunities and challenges.
Common themes included: finding the right talent, dealing with a fragmented landscape for business support, cyber security, AI, and accessing finance.
