An Internationalisation Report published by the LLEP shines light on international trade, a key area for economic growth identified in the LLEP delivery plan.
Internationalisation is an important way to increase the flow of goods and services, which can have a positive effect on the economy.
The report shows how internationalisation can help to drive growth, create jobs and boost productivity in the area. It also highlights the areas in which Leicestershire is particularly strong when it comes to exporting products and services overseas: Manufacturing, Construction, Professional scientific and technical activities, Human health and Social Work activities.
Textiles made in the United Kingdom also have an international appeal and are a strength for Leicestershire.
As well as using economic data from the market leading Lightcast system, the report also contains highlights from a recent Midlands Engine Internationalisation report for the region. This identifies opportunities in new markets, such as Singapore and the Middle East, as well as emphasising the importance of maintaining strong trading with existing key partners such as the US and EU.
