‘Growth Hub event will help businesses navigate choppy waters’ – book now

Glynis Wright MBE

Support for SMEs in navigating the cost of “doing” business will be the focus of a one-day conference in April.

The event, organised by the Business Gateway Growth Hub and hosted by LLEP Board Members Glynis Wright MBE and Sonia Baigent, aims to give Leicester and Leicestershire SMEs tools, tips, and essential practical information as they head into their new financial year.

Delegates will be able to build networks and gain business support advice at the event, which is taking place at the Morningside Arena on Tuesday 18 April.

Growth Hub leaders are keen to ensure that the conference covers a range of of topics, including how businesses can cope with rising energy costs, their recruitment skills shortages, and other leadership challenges.

Glynis, who built and sold her own successful business, said: “Rarely has there been a time when businesses have been compelled to navigate such choppy waters.

“Businesses have faced the impact of Brexit, the pandemic, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and now inflation and the energy price crises – there is so much that businesses are having to contend with.

“The Growth Hub team is working hard to bring together experts to speak on the day to offer nuggets of knowledge which could help SMEs to continue to grow, and to develop strategies to get through these tough times.

“The expo also aims to flag up and signpost business owners to other support that is available to them outside of the conference to help them manage their current challenges.”

Glynis added: “The Growth Hub Team have invited a wide range of speakers – all of whom I am personally looking forward to hearing from as I will no doubt learn from them to the benefit of my own business.

“A whole day out of a business is not easy to find and that is why the Growth Hub Team have worked so hard to ensure that it is a valuable event for those attending.

“My fellow host Sonia and I hope that attendees will leave with at least two or three really helpful insights into how to navigate these uncertain times, along with the awareness that they are certainly not alone in having to deal with so many challenges.”

Businesses can register now to attend the free one-day conference, which takes place at the Morningside Arena from 8am to 3.30pm.

The Business Gateway Growth Hub is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

It is delivered by a partnership that also includes Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, and East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire).
