North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) has become one of only 17 per cent of accredited organisations to have achieved gold status from Investors in People which supports around 15,000 companies across 75 countries worldwide.

NWSLC employs over 700 people, including 200 teaching staff across six campuses and supports around 12,000 students in full and part-time study, apprenticeships, higher education, professional courses, and distance learning.

NWSLC commenced the rigorous re-assessment process against the Investors in People framework in February 2021. The framework reflects the very latest workplace trends that help organisations achieve high performance through people. Achieving this accreditation reinforces the college’s ongoing commitment to good business and people management excellence.

The college has a people strategy in place which has been designed to support the development of a diverse and inclusive world class workforce and supports NWSLC’s overall vision to be recognised as a high-quality learning institution for its students and a positive learning partner for individuals and businesses helping to drive up productivity and growth within the East and West Midlands.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate NWSLC on its gold accreditation which is a fantastic effort for any organisation, and places NWSLC in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people. We believe that the success of your organisation begins and ends with people. If we make work better for everyone, we make work better for every organisation. And if we do that, we make society stronger, healthier and happier.”

Commenting on the award, Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC, said, “North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College is a caring employer that looks after its employees, fostering a community of hard working and like-minded colleagues working together in the interests of a single goal: to achieve success through learning. We’re delighted to have achieved gold accreditation from Investors in People and look forward to building on our success as we move forward to support the region with its post-pandemic recovery.”

Nicola Morrison, Director of Human Resources, Organisational Development & Marketing said, “We aspire to be an employer of choice, creating a culture and work environment that makes the college a great place to work. This includes investing in our people, celebrating success, giving our people the tools and resources to enable them to be knowledgeable, healthy, and engaged, as well as valuing individual and collective contribution. Our workforce is our greatest asset, and this accreditation provides us with a great sense of achievement that supports our ongoing journey of continuous improvement enabling us to achieve our people ambitions”.
