“This Government funding towards the scheme recognises the work we are doing across the authority to improve and construct new roads before housing is built, which alleviates congestion by creating extra capacity on the network.”

– Leicestershire County Council Leader Nick Rushton

The project involves upgrading single carriageway road to dual carriageway and the remodelling of five junctions on the A512, along with further improvements to the motorway junction.

Overall this multi-million-pound scheme will provide access to enable the unlocking of land for a significant number of new homes, employment opportunities and support planned growth in Loughborough and the surrounding area.

The project will also improve access to Loughborough University’s Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP) subsequently aiding delivery at the science park and benefitting the wider economy.
